Success Story - Antony

Antony is a resident at The White House in Ipswich who enjoys community activities as part of his recovery journey. Antony visits ActivLives for gardening and woodwork, and Ipswich Town Football Club for community football training, among other activities with The White House residents.

Watch Antony share his story here:

“When I first started it was a bit of a shock, I never thought I’d be diagnosed with an eating disorder. Being here [at The White House] I definitely feel better than I have done in hospital, the team at Bramacare are very focussed on finding things to do in the local community to help towards recovery. I’ve always enjoyed gardening and playing football, keeping active just helps lift my mood and gives me something to focus on. It might seem a bit anxiety provoking at first but once you get to know the team and meet people here, you’ll find that it’s a good place to be.”

I’ve been out of hospital for 4 years and I’m enjoying life again

I first had anorexia when I was 13 when I became more aware of my weight. I have been in and out of hospital for most of my life since age 27. I was then referred to Bramacare as a residential patient and it’s been really good for me. The atmosphere there is really nice, the place is lovely, and I’ve now settled into a supported living flat and I’m doing a lot in the local community. I think the staff are excellent, I get on well with them and they treat me well. I never thought I would stay out of hospital for longer than 4 months… I’ve now been out for 4 years and I’m enjoying life again! I would definitely recommend Bramacare.
